Zirconium & zirconium alloy data sheet

Symbol: Zr
Melting Point: 1852 °C
Density: 6.56 g/cc

Zirconium is a very strong, malleable, ductile, lustrous silver-gray metal. Its chemical and physical properties are similar to those of titanium. Zirconium is extremely resistant to heat and corrosion. Zirconium is lighter than steel and its hardness is similar to copper.
Zirconium mill products are available in two chemical grades each sharing excellent corrosion resistance and also having slightly different physical and mechanical properties.

Zirconium alloys are composed of 95.5%to 99.2% zirconium and hafnium with a maximum hafnium content of 4.5%
Zirconium 702 is commercially pure zirconium. Alloy exhibits good ductility even at cryogenic temperatures and good strength comparable with other common engineering alloys
Zirconium 704 is zirconium alloyed with Tin 1.0%-2.0%.
Zirconium 705 is zirconium alloyed with niobium to increase its strength and improve its formability. Alloy exhibits good ductility even at cryogenic temperatures and strength comparable with other common engineering alloys.
